Dwyer Works on Display in Europe

Two works by Nancy Dwyer from NNEMoCA’s Collection were selected for inclusion in a major retrospective exhibition of her work at Kunsthalle Winterthur in Switzerland. This exhibition was held from September 8 – December 1, 2024.

Nancy Dwyer’s works often include buzzwords, aphorisms, or short, memorable phrases incorporated into the design of their compositions. She was a member of the “Pictures Generation” along with other notable artists such as Cindy Sherman and Robert Longo, and was included in an exhibition of the works from this period at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2009. In 1974, she co-founded Hallwalls, an influential regional art center, in Buffalo, New York. Nancy taught art at the University of Vermont from 2004-2019, and served as the Chair of the Art Department during a portion of that time.
